How does Botox work?
Botulinum Toxin is a solution that is injected with a tiny needle into the muscle. Botox works by temporarily paralyzing (relaxing) the muscle thus helping eliminate wrinkles.
How long does Botox take to work and last?
It may take 3-7 days before you notice a change. Botox can last up to 3-4 months. Advantages of regular injections-wrinkles do not have time to reform or get as deep without the muscles contracting.
Are there any reasons I can’t get Botox?
*Under age 18
*Pregnant or breastfeeding
*Presence of infection at injection site
*Have a known hypersensitivity to any botulinum toxin product or cow’s milk protein (not lactose intolerant)
Botulium toxin is the only product approved by the FDA for dynamic wrinkles
Are there any complications of botox injections?
Complications can happen with any medical procedure. Botox is only temporary.
How much botox do I need?
The amount will be based on the need.
Forehead lines- 10-30 units
Frown lines- 10-25 units
Crows feet- 5 -15 units (per side)
Lower face- 2-6 units (depending on area)
How is dermal filler different?
Dermal filler is a soft, gel-like substance injected under the skin.
Why would I want dermal filler?
Dermal filler is used for augmentation of the lips, cheeks, chin, and back of hand. It can help with facial wrinkles and skin folds.
Why wouldn’t I be able to have dermal filler?
*allergy to positive bacterial proteins
*allergy to lidocaine
How long does dermal filler last?
Dermal filler can last anywhere from 6-9 months.
